Exercise 5: edit your home page

All the exercises so far have used the Playpen. That means that search engines will not find the pages, and although people might find them by browsing it is rather unlikely.

Pages for other people to see should be put in the main part of the website. You can tell which part you are in by looking at the menu on the left of the page. Playpen pages have The Playpen at the top of the menu.

Your real home page is in the main part of the website (the Main web in TWiki-speak). You can use it to tell people about your own photography.

1. Go to your home page. You might have bookmarked it in Exercise 1 - if not, use the procedure in that exercise to find it.
2. Edit the page and add some words about the sort of photography you do.
3. Add a picture or two.

Don't worry if you mess up the page. The website keeps copies of previous versions (it actually makes a copy each time the page is locked for editing, so it does not save every intermediate version while you are working). To see the history of a page, use the Page change history link on the lower menu. New pages don't have much history, but just look at the club homepage!
